Doug George has succeeded in every form of racing he's tried, from a limited sportsman championship at Mesa Marin Raceway in Bakersfield, California to two of the west's top NASCAR touring championships. George began his career on the dirt, near his home in Merced, California but quickly shifted to asphalt. He won his first NASCAR Featherlite Southwest Tour race on the Sears Point Raceway road course, which led to the 1990 title. George moved to the NASCAR Winston West Series, where he was the 1995 champion with six victories. In 1996, driving Jim Veneable's Ortho Lawn and Garden Care Products Ford, George finished second among Cintas Rookie-of-the Year candidates with three of his top-10 finishes coming during the season's final five events. The past season was spent with seven different owners. Even so, George missed finishing in the top-20 by just a few points.
