Eric Bodine Invades Sandstone and Brings Home a First And Second Place Finish
(Atco, N.J.) - Eric Bodine, driver of the Bodine Motorsports Big Daddy's BBQ Sauce Quarter Midget invaded the Sandstone Quarter Midget Race Track and came home with a first and second place finish in two separate divisions.
Qualifying for the Super Stock class found Eric lining up in the last row. With relative ease Eric marched to the front to a victory that would put him on the outside pole for the feature. At the drop of the green Eric ran side by side with the pole sitter for one lap until clearing him for the lead. From that point on it was just a matter of extending his lead. The only problem Eric had the entire race was the rough surface made by the cars in the turns and dealing with lap traffic. At the end of the twenty five lap feature Eric had lapped up to the fourth place car and had over a half of track lead on the second place car, taking his first checkered flag at this speedway.
Racing in the Honda Class was much longer road to the A-Main. While leading his heat the #99 Big Daddy's car lost it's left front tire, causing Eric to drop out of the heat and placing him last in the C-Main. Having to finish in the top two to transfer to the B-Main Eric wasted no time to move through the pack and win the C-Main. This now gave Eric a last row starting position for the B-Main. Eric carefully moved through the pack as the laps wound down. Still having to finish in the top two to transfer to the A-Main the Big Daddy's car found itself running third on the white flag lap. Coming through the third and fourth turns Eric drove down low and passed both the first and second place car to take the win and moving him to the last row in the A-Main. With yet another last row starting spot Eric worked his way through the pack, passing cars on the inside and outside before he moved up to third and then on the white flag moved into falling just short of his second win of the night.
